What is a secure site?

We all have a real fear that the site we are looking at could be downloading sneaky programs to our computer. Most sites really do not need this feature, it is only when you are dealing in private details or credit cards for your clients that it really needs to have top notch security.

A secure site is a site that uses the
https:
protocol to ensure that your information cannot be stolen by a third party between the sender and the receiver.

Connection security
Make sure you see the "lock" icon in the lower left or lower right corner of your web browser, OUTSIDE the web page itself. This indicates that the connection itself is encrypted.

As mentioned above, the "lock" icon means that it is virtually impossible for your credit card number to be stolen "in transit" across the Internet.
